Fun Event – GPL 1967 Mod – at Zolder

This time we have the GPL Mod cars on track. But fortunately the Belgian Authorities have banned the Mighty Three (Eagle, Ferrari and Lotus).
That gives us the opportunity to let the slower (almost forgotten) cars shine on track.

Brabham BT24

The Brabham BT24 was a Formula One car designed by Ron Tauranac for the 1967 season. Powered by the Repco 740 V8 engine, it was driven by Denny Hulme and Jack Brabham. The BT24 was known for its reliability and helped Hulme secure the 1967 World Drivers' Championship, while Brabham clinched the Constructors' Championship. Its success was attributed to its lightweight design and dependable engine performance. Source: Motorsport Magazine - "Brabham BT24"

BRM P83

The BRM P83 was introduced by British Racing Motors during the 1966 Formula One season. It featured an ambitious H16 engine—a complex design that essentially combined two flat-eight engines. Despite its innovative approach, the car suffered from reliability issues due to the engine's weight and complexity. Its best result came when Jim Clark won the 1966 United States Grand Prix driving a Lotus fitted with the BRM H16 engine. Source: Grand Prix History - "BRM P83"

Cooper T81B

The Cooper T81B was an evolution of the T81 model and was used in the 1967 season. Powered by a Maserati V12 engine, it was driven by racers like Jochen Rindt and Pedro Rodríguez. While the car had competitive moments, it struggled with handling and reliability issues, preventing it from achieving significant success against its rivals. Honda RA300

The Honda RA300 made its debut in the 1967 Italian Grand Prix. Nicknamed the "Hondola" due to its combination of a Honda engine and a chassis designed by Lola Cars, it was driven by John Surtees. Remarkably, the RA300 won its first race, marking Honda's second victory in Formula One. The car was praised for its powerful V12 engine and aerodynamic design. McLaren M5A

The McLaren M5A was introduced in the latter part of the 1967 season. Designed by Robin Herd, it was McLaren's first Formula One car to be powered by a BRM V12 engine. Bruce McLaren himself drove the car, which featured a monocoque chassis and showcased the team's engineering advancements. While it showed potential, the M5A was hindered by the BRM engine's lack of reliability. Source: McLaren Racing Official Website - "Heritage: M5A"
