90s STOCK CAR Championship

THR hosts a STOCK CAR Championship, beginning on February 5th, 2023. Our drivers can expect an authentic and thrilling racing experience. The championship will feature the 90s Stock Car, updated by LilSki, and take place over six race weekends on some of the most iconic tracks of the era, including Watkins Glen (Road Track), Sonoma (Road Track), Daytona (Super Speedway), Riverside (Road Track), Road Atlanta (Road Track) and Michigan (Super Speedway).

One of the most exciting storylines of the 1990 NASCAR season was the intense rivalry between Dale Earnhardt and Rusty Wallace. The two drivers engaged in a fierce battle for the championship, with Earnhardt ultimately coming out on top, winning his fourth NASCAR Cup Series championship. Another notable moment from the 1990 NASCAR season was the emergence of a young driver named Jeff Gordon. Gordon, just 22 years old at the time, won his first race in just his fifth start, becoming the youngest driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race. He would go on to win four more races that season and finish fifth in the championship.

On the SuperSpeedways, such as Daytona, the championship will utilize Dave Esotics "Dynamic Restrictors App" to simulate the slipstream for a car pack. This is because Assetto Corsa´s drafting/slipstream logic is not complete enough for cars driving on a super speedway, as it only models slipstream benefits for the car behind another car. The app simulates the slipstream for a car pack, and has to run on a server and sends admin commands in real time to adjust restrictor values while cars are driving during a session. This will ensure that the racing experience on the SuperSpeedways is as realistic and authentic as possible.

As THR's NASCAR Championship revives the exciting moments of the 1990 NASCAR season, fans will have the opportunity to relive the intense rivalries, dramatic finishes, and the emergence of new talent that made the season one for the ages. With the updated 90s Stock Car by LilSki, the use of "Dynamic Restrictors App" and the iconic tracks, the championship will be a true throwback to the golden era of the NASCAR and will provide an authentic and realistic racing experience on the SuperSpeedways.

Registration

You have to register for each event (Saturday and Sunday) of the championship.
Normally the registration for the next race weekend opens the Monday before.

To be able to join the Qualifying and the race sessions, you have to register via this link:
https://bit.ly/THR_sign_up

You must be on server THR | QUALI + RACE | while registering.

If so, then you can join the Qualifying with your car and skin immediately after registering.
In some cases it is necessary to wait for the next server restart, which occurs every 2 hours.
Only in rare cases you get the message "No slots available", then the Admins have to stop and restart the server.
Give us a short hint in #drivers chat in our Discord.

THR has changed the onboarding process:
https://thracing.de/2022/02/22/thr-changes-onboarding-process/
New community members need to have three ACSR races in the records to get permission to start in the Main Event Races on Sundays. To achieve this, they can participate in the wkdy races, the practice races on Saturday and the THR Academy events.
If you think you are experienced enough to directly start in the Main Event races, please fill out the form (also to be found by following above link) with verifiable references to fast-track your onboarding request.

Cars

We race the 90s Stock Car which got several upates from LilSki.

The car now has unchangeable differential values that simulate a Detroit Locker, which NASCAR used until 2022, and the roll bar is removed from the rear on the oval car. This is because rear roll bars are banned on ovals to this day. Both of these make setups more realistic and easier to understand. Also, the differential fix actually makes the car more realistic and predictable to drive.

Apps

Voice Chat

It is highly recommended to join our voicechat channel "Qualifying and Race".
This is a learning from our past Stock Car races.

Helicorsa / CarRadar / CMs Radar, CrewChief

You need these apps, cause in oval racing, a car who gets the nose under another car has the right to keep that space without the car in front turning down, and its difficult to see that if you dont have a spotter or some sort of car radar on.

Dynamic Restrictors Flags

We use Dave Esotics "Dynamic Restrictors" App for the races on the Superspeedways (Daytona and Michigan).
AC only simulates slipstream for one car behind another car. It does not simulate the aerodynamic benefit the car in front gets from having another car behind it. AC also does not simulate the effect of multiple cars creating a larger slipstream and making an entire line of cars faster.

Dynamic restrictors changes engine restrictors on the fly for all drivers in an attempt to simulate pack racing. If we did not have the plugin, as soon as a car gets a 0.599 sec gap, they become uncatchable and the race becomes this unrealistic, boring parade.

The "Dynamic Restrictors App is installed on the server, but every participant need the client App "Dynamic Restrictors Flags".
The app offers the possibility to have Rolling Starts, a Safety car, Speed Limit in the Pits, a penalty system and much more.

You have to download and install RealPenalty.
After installation you have to enable it in AC/ContentManager.
Go to
Settings\ASSETTO CORSA\APPS
check "DR Flags"

Flashor will drive the Pace Car

Rolling Start

When the normal AC lights go out, the Pace Car will pass everyone and start the formation lap with a max speed of 150 km/h. The "Dynamic Restrictor Flag App" will show this information on screen.
The pace car will dictate the speed. Means: All cars stay in starting formation with a speed not faster than 150 km/h.
Means the drivers with the uneven positions (1,3,5,...) take the lower/left line of the track, whereas the driver with the even postions (2,3,4,...) take the upper/right line.
It is not allowed to pass the car in front. When we cross the start-/finish line the indicator flag turns to green and we can Go Full Throttle.
There are no automated penalties for speeding during a rolling start. But if you overtake the car in front, it can be reported and sanctioned.

Safety Car

During the race, situations may arise in which a safety car is deployed.
A yellow indicator show you that we are in a Safety Car situation.

The cars slow down and it is not allowed to overtake the cars in front.
It is also not allowed to enter the pits.

The Safety Car enters the track and sets the pace at 150 km/h.

When you approach the safety car:

  • if you are not the leader of the race, overtake the safety car (but don´t overtake cars in front)
  • if you are the leader, stay behind the safety car

All cars line up in a single row.
Once this is done, the pit lane opens and the vehicle can enter the pits.
When the field is in formation (single row) again, the Safety Car driver informs that he goes back into the pits.

A grey indicator shows that he enters the pit at the end of the current lap.
When the drivers reach the star-finish line a green indicator pops up and signals that it is allowed to go full throttle again.

There are no automated penalties for speeding during a safety car situation.
But if you overtake the car in front, it can be reported and punished.

Pitlane Speed Limit

In the pitlane you have to be slower than 80 km/h. If you are faster, you receive a drive through penalty.

Pitlane Crossing

Do not cross the withe line. Enter the track behind that line. If not, you receive a drive throught penalty.

Penalties

- Drive Through > just drive through the pitlane, but be careful to not earn a new pitlane speeding penalty
- Investigation after the race > Penalties must be served during the race.
If you don't clear a penalty or receive it in the last lap, the penalty time will be added by the admin after the race.

Real Penalty

https://www.patreon.com/posts/real-penalty-app-79268083

Real Penalty is an App which needs to be installed on every Client PC.
The app offers the possibility to have Rolling Starts, a Safety car, Speed Limit in the Pits, a penalty system and much more.

You have to download and install RealPenalty.
After installation you have to enable it in AC/ContentManager.
Go to
