Our THR 1970 Formula 1 season, was an electrifying battle for supremacy. Over 13 race weekends at diverse tracks, 64 drivers showcased their talents, earning points based on their race performances. This report takes a closer look at the thrilling F1 1970 Championship.

Diverse Race Tracks

The season featured a rich array of race circuits, from the high-speed straights of Monza to the tight corners of Monaco. Each venue posed unique challenges, ensuring a thrilling and unpredictable championship.

The Heroes of the Season

The championship standings were dominated by an impressive group of drivers, led by T Muttram. Muttram secured the title with an outstanding total of 402 points, showcasing consistent performances throughout the season.

Closely following was Florian Masse, finishing in second place with 386 points. Masse proved to be a fierce competitor, constantly challenging Muttram's supremacy.

Jake Feimster secured the third spot with 339 points, while Pete Bondurant clinched fourth place with 328 points. Carlo Pedersoli rounded out the top five, showcasing his skills with a total of 323 points.

Dramatic Moments

The 1970 season was not without its share of drama. Unpredictable factors, including difficult setup work, the necessity of gentle tire handling, race incidents and many more, added to the excitement and kept our drivers and fans on the edge of their seats.

Looking Ahead

The F1 1970 Championship will be remembered as one of the most thrilling and unforgettable seasons in THR history. It was a testament to the dedication, passion, and competitive spirit of the drivers who gave their all each week in pursuit of victory.

While we eagerly await the upcoming THR championships, we want to thank every driver who participated in the 1970 season. It was a great pleasure to share the track with you.

Provisional Standings

The result of the championship is still provisional - as the decisions of the Race Control are pending - but nothing will change in the podium positions.

First time THR champion

We finally experienced it ourselves and Evgeny created an exceptional tribute about it!

The 1991 Formula 1 season took place 32 years ago.

Many of us followed every race back then, got up at night to see drivers like Alesi, Senna, Berger, Piquet, Mansell, Prost, Patrese and Schumacher.
Everyone was thrilled by the drama at the iconic circuits of Spa, Suzuka, Estoril, Montreal, Interlagos, Hockenheim and many more. We would have loved to get into the cockpit and race ourselves, but no one asked!

But in 2022, THR — a community of passionate fuelheads, gentleman drivers, SimRacing enthusiasts who love to race raw, vintage cars — announced the F1 1991 Championship.
And it was time to make up for what we had missed.
A chance to get into the cockpit and immerse ourselves in this amazing era of Formula 1.
The brutality of the cars, the screaming V10s and V12s, the sparks over the asphalt, the tension of the duels.
And THR gave us the opportunity to experience all that.
39 drivers started in the championship and battled each other in 8 races while trying to tame these powerful beasts.
Adamike became the Drivers' Champion, Jayden secured 2nd place and Potatohedron finished in 3rd place.

It was an incredible championship, which now receives an exceptional tribute with Evgeny's video.

It's absolutely fantastic what Evgeny has done with THR´s live video footage.

We are overwhelmed and proud of this cinematic monument!

I hope you had a nice and relaxing summer and are now ready to get back into THR's vintage cars and compete against your opponents on iconic tracks.

This weekend we start off with a bang: The ACL GTC Cars at Fonteny!

As before the summer break, we offer a Casual Cup and a Main Championship. Details can be found in ⁠60s-gtc-announcements in our Discord Server.

But it is also time to have a look back at the time attacks we had during the summer.

It's crazy how many laps you've done in the few weeks at Pikes Peak.
But even crazier are the lap times you've achieved.

Adam Keefe joined THR and drove the fasted lap in both Time Attacks. An incredible 9:07.575 on Tarmac in the Audi Quattro S1 E2 and with the Lancia Delta S4 a stunning 10:38.450 through the Dirt.

In both cases he beat the other finishers by several seconds.

Congratulations!!!

But at least as amazing are the test kilometers you guys drove on the roads of Fonteny. A total of 293 laps were driven, which equates to more than 7,000 km. This doesn't include the outlaps, which makes it even more amazing.

The fastest time (9:28.370) was achieved by meisterjäger in a Bizzarini. But also in several other cars meisterjäger set fast times. The training kilometers will surely help you all in the upcoming race.

Summer Break Practice Laps (ACL GTC cars) at Fonteny

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is a legendary mountain race that takes place every year on the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado, USA. The course is 19.99 kilometers long and has 156 curves that demand everything from the drivers. In the 1980s, the race was particularly exciting because it was the era of Group B rally cars, which set new records with their powerful turbo engines and four-wheel drive.

Among the most famous drivers of the time were Walter Röhrl, Michèle Mouton and Bobby Unser, all of whom drove different versions of the Audi Quattro. Röhrl was the first to break the 11-minute mark when he set a time of 10:47.850 minutes in 1987. Mouton was the first woman to win the race when she clocked a time of 11:25.390 minutes in 1985. Unser was the oldest winner when he posted a time of 11:09.220 minutes in 1986.

One of Audi's biggest competitors were Lancia, who competed with the Delta S4. The Delta S4 was an engineering marvel that combined a turbocharger and supercharger to produce over 500 horsepower.

The Pikes Peak races in the 1980s were a spectacle for spectators, who could admire the breathtaking driving maneuvers and spectacular jumps of the rally cars. Drivers not only had to demonstrate courage and skill, but also cope with the changing weather conditions and loss of power due to the thin air at high altitudes. The races were a milestone in the history of motorsports and have not lost their appeal to this day.

And now it's your turn to chase the two cars up the famous hill in one piece and as fast as possible.

The 1960s were an exhilarating and transformative period in the world of motorsports. During this decade, GT (Grand Touring) car racing witnessed a golden era that still holds a special place in the hearts of racing enthusiasts. The combination of legendary cars, talented drivers, iconic tracks, and groundbreaking technological advancements defined the greatness of GTC racing in the 1960s.

Lets race back to the 1960s with THR!

The first THR GTC 60s championship was a huge success and Evgeny has made a "monument" of the Championship with his Cinematic!

THR has set everything up for a great championship to attract a lot of drivers with this combination of cars and tracks!

We travel from France to England and race on the challenging track if Brands Hatch.

Brands Hatch is a motor racing circuit in England that has been used since 1926.
It is known for its challenging curves and its natural amphitheatre atmosphere. Brands Hatch hosted 12 Formula 1 Grand Prix between 1964 and 1986.

The Formula 1 race in 1970 was the British Grand Prix, which took place on July 18th. It was the seventh race of the championship and was won by Jochen Rindt, who drove a Lotus 72. He started from pole position and led almost the entire race, despite having problems with his rear wing. He won with a four-second margin over Jack Brabham and Denny Hulme. The British Grand Prix was an exciting and dramatic race that thrilled many spectators. It was also the last time that Brands Hatch hosted Formula 1 until 1983.

We travel from the Netherlands to France and enter the famous trackside of the Le Mans Circuit.
But we don´t race the full circuit.

Instead we race the awesome Bugatti Circuit made by our member @Phil Noobson#4636 .

The Bugatti Circuit is a permanent race track located within Circuit des 24 Heures and named after Ettore Bugatti. It was constructed in 1965 with a length of 4.185 km and uses a part of the larger circuit and a separate, purpose-built section. The circuit was used for the 1967 French Grand Prix, though it would prove to be the only time the Formula One World Championship would use the circuit. Therefore the lap record is a 1:36.700 min by Graham Hill in a Lotus 49.
The circuit still exists and is the current host of the French motorcycle Grand Prix.

@Phil Noobson says:

I wanted to drive the full 1967 f1 Championship but the Bugatti Circuit was the only track missing. So I asked WooChoo if he is planning to make this layout for his "Le Mans 1967" track. He said no but gave me permission to try to make it.
I started research and learned a little blender (thanks to Blender Guru and LilSki for the great youtube tutorials and the whole assettocorsamods.net forum).
My claim was to put as much love in it as possible with blender skills close to zero.

Contrary to this reserved assessment, the track turned out great.
Many thanks for the many hours you have invested in this project.

Our second Easter Break Race takes us to Italy.

The car we race:
The Maserati 250F is a legendary racing car that was designed for Formula One racing in 1954. The car's lightweight and aerodynamic design, powerful engine, and innovative suspension system helped make it one of the most successful racing cars of its time. The 250F won numerous races and championships.

In 1954, the car won its first race at the Monaco Grand Prix, driven by Juan Manuel Fangio. Fangio would go on to win the World Drivers' Championship that year, with the 250F contributing significantly to his success.

The car continued to dominate the racing scene in the following years, with drivers such as Stirling Moss, Jean Behra, and Mike Hawthorn all achieving success behind the wheel of the 250F. The car won a total of eight Grand Prix races in 1956 alone, cementing Maserati's reputation as a premier manufacturer of high-performance automobiles. The car's success on the track helped to establish the company as a major player in the world of motorsports, and its impact can still be felt today.
The car's lightweight and aerodynamic design set the standard for future Formula One cars, influencing the development of modern racing cars to this day.

The track we race:
In the 50s, the Monza race track had a total length of 10.1 km (6.3 mi) and featured a combination of fast straights and challenging corners. The oval section of the track, known as the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, was 4.25 km (2.64 mi) long and was characterized by its high-speed banking. This section of the track was used in conjunction with a more traditional road course layout to create a unique and challenging circuit.

The oval section of the track was viewed with a mixture of excitement and trepidation by teams and drivers. The high-speed banking presented a unique challenge, as cars would be traveling at speeds of over 250 km/h (155 mph) for extended periods of time. This put a great deal of stress on both the cars and the drivers, as they had to maintain high levels of concentration and control at all times.

Despite these challenges, the Monza race track remains an iconic circuit in the world of motorsports, and its still unique layout continues to test the skills of the world's best drivers.

Our first Easter Break race takes us to Australia.

Mount Panorama is a motor racing track located in Bathurst (New South Wales). It is commonly referred to as just "Bathurst" by motorsport fans and is known for its challenging layout, steep elevation changes, and stunning scenery.

The track is 6.213 km long and features 23 turns, with a maximum gradient of 16%. It was first built as a scenic drive for tourists in the early 1900s and was later turned into a race track in 1938.

Today, the track hosts a number of high-profile motorsport events, including the Bathurst 1000, which is widely regarded as one of the premier touring car races in the world. The Bathurst 12 Hour endurance race for GT3 and other sports cars is also held each year.

Mount Panorama is known for its fast and flowing nature, and is a favorite of drivers and fans alike.
With the circuit winding its way through hills and valleys, and providing stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

The cherry on the cake is that we'll be racing one of your favorite mods at Bathurst.
