All three posters arrived - after a short shipping time - to the winners of our TCL and GPL championships.
The winners had the option to choose between the sizes (30x20, 60x40 and 90x60 cm).
Nik and Mac have selected a poster in the size 60x40 cm. Valentin picked 30x20 cm.
Just got my poster it looks amazing, very high quality picture and paper.
Nik
What a beautiful poster! Thank you so much.
Valentin
Quality is nice. Just wish you included my helmet with it 😉
Mac
Is there anything better than a poster of a race car on the wall?
Yes, a poster of YOUR race car with YOUR self-designed custom skin.
There are some sample posters in our THR shop. For example Simo´s NART Ferrari at Wakins Glen, which you can see below. If you want to have your car printed, then write me (pitman) a PM in Discord.
Probably the easiest way is to grab the links from the server details page in Content Manager:
Qualifying
As mentioned several times, the Qualifying has beend moved from right before the Weekend races, to an open Qualifying which takes place on the weekdays. ServerManager offers an option to start a 2 hour looping practice event, which stores your laptimes. In preparation for the weekend's races, we combine the results of the individual sessions to form the starting order for Saturday's practice race and Sunday's official race…. (Side note: ServerManager saves the lap times. Stracker is not necessary for this.)
Which Server do we use for Qualifying?
The Qualifyings will run on our RACE server, which I have renamed to THR | QUALI + RACE | THRacing | discord.me/THRacing | (Only the laptimes from this server count as Qualifying times!)
Where can you see, if your laptimes got recognized and stored?
The Session Type is labeled as Practice. That is ServerManager related and can´t be changed. It may be possible that some session lap times are not saved. This can happen if the session crashes. So it makes sense to check your times!
How to join Qualifying immediatley after registering for the championship?
To join the Qualifying, you have to register for the championship. It is important to register via this link: http://5.75.183.156:8772/championships?server=4 You must be on server THR | QUALI + RACE |. If so, then you can join the Qualifying immediately after registering.
Why is the session on Server THR | 1 | similar to Server THR | QUALI + RACE | ?
On Server THR | 1 | I have started a test session for the Mod/Track combination which gives you the opportunity to test different cars. (Server 1 has to run 24/7, to start the STracker webpage. I hope that the current issues with STracker can be solved in the future.)
Qualifying Voice Chat
When you enter the Qualifying Server, it would be nice if you dial into the new #Qualifying + Race Voice Chat in Discord beforehand. I could imagine that this would bring us a little closer together. (Push to talk is mandatory.)
Races
The weekend races will be held on this server: THR | QUALI + RACE | THRacing | discord.me/THRacing |
At the moment we are planning the following schedule:
Saturday
First 30 Minute Race (Starting grid based on the weekday qualifying times)
Second 30 Minute (Starting grid based on the result from the first race)
This means that we have to leave and rejoin the server between the two races. Every racer has to wait in CM until the server restarts and can then join the second race session.
Sunday
Main Event over 60 Minutes (Starting grid based on the weekday qualifying times)
30 Minute Practice before the races
The races start at 21UTC. 30 minutes before we offer a practice session, to hop into the cars and get into the right mood. It is not necessary to leave and rejoin the server between the practice session and the race.
Race Voice Chat
During the races most of us join the "#Qualifying + Race Voice Chat" in Discord. (Push to talk is mandatory.)
Sharing Setups
Another thing, what might be good, is that we share our setups more than we have in the past. That might help to find good setups for the new (unusual) cars we race in the next weeks. If someone of you has a good setup, it can be shared in #setups (Easiest way would be to use the share setup function in Content Manager.)
Important info
We are using the next four weeks to test a few things. Our server manager has already caused me some headaches.
Until today it was not possible to join the qualifying server directly after registration. Fortunately I found a solution.
To make it easier for you to recognize the qualifying server, I have renamed server 5 - as described above. Unfortunately ServerManager can't access the old qualifying times across different servers. Therefore, those who had already run laps must now run them again on the qualifying server.
Don´t be too hard on us if anything doesn´t go right in the next few days/weeks. A lot of things are new for us and I have to change a lot of things in the background.
Last week I was going to post the following video. But then I did not have the guts to do it. Now it's a little too late, but I present it to you, to see if it's a good idea to create Youtube videos every now and then…
The championship ran alternately lasts from September 2020 until now and we raced on the same 11 different iconic tracks:
Kyalami 1967
Monaco 1966
Zandvoort 1967
Spa 1966
Rouen 60s
Silverstone 1967
Nürburgring 1967
Mosport
Monza 1966
Watkins Glen 1967
Mexico 1967
57 different drivers took part in the championship. We had an average of 19 cars on the track and the biggest starting grid was in Monza with 28 vehicles. 19 different drivers managed to finish on the podium and 6 drivers were able to claim a victory.
We streamed every race at Youtube and we have all experienced a lot of great motorsport.
Racing the GPL Mod regularly against very well known drivers was the motivating force behind the foundation of THR.
That's why I'm very happy about the popularity of the GPL Championship.
I want to thank every participant. It was a pleasure to have you all on track !!!
But now it's time to celebrate the winners:
Class A
Mac Shepherd
pitman
Nat Stevenson
After the race, we spun the wheel of fortune to determine the winner of the THR championship prize.
And again the wheel of fortune stopped at the Champions field.
Mac therefore receives a product from our THR Shop in the next days.
In two days we will finish our GPL championship. At the same time, the TCL championship has ended.
You might be wondering what happens next in THR.
We have a lot of things planned behind the scenes and I would like to present them to you now.
In the next four weeks we will have some great racing and we want to use these weeks to test different things:
1. we want to test a new race format
Our previous race format (Qualifying 20 minutes, First Race 20 minutes, Second Race 20 Minutes with reversed grid) suited our community very well for a long time. But due to the larger starting grids, the start into race 2 often becomes a problem.
That is why we have decided to get rid of the Reversed Grid races.
At the same time, the long races in Monza and Daytona have shown us that there is also a great fascination in driving longer races. The drivers don't have to take so much risk and can study the opponents better and look for different lines.
Taking both reasons together, we want to try the following format: Saturday 21 UTC: practice race - duration 1 hour Sunday 21 UTC: championship race - duration 1 hour
In order not to make the race evenings too long at the weekend, the qualifying sessions will no longer take place directly before the races. Instead, there will be continuous qualifying sessions on weekdays. Whenever you have time, you can run times that will be used as qualifying times for the weekend races.
That means, that we will have the same starting grid on Saturdays and Sundays.
2. we want to test which mods you like
2021-03-14 21 UTC
ACL GTL (all cars) at Thomson Road 1 hour race with 150% fuel usage (Simulation time on the server will start at 16:00 and last until 22:00 o´clock.)
2021-03-21 21 UTC
DRM at Thomson Road (all cars) 1 hour race with 150% fuel usage (Simulation time on the server will start at 16:00 and last until 22:00 o´clock.)
2021-03-28 21 UTC
GPLs at Horsma (only Matra-Ford MS7) 1 hour race with 100% fuel usage (Simulation time on the server will start at 14:00 o´clock.)
2021-04-04 21 UTC
Lada at Grobnik (Lada 2101 + Lada 2105) 1 hour race with 100% fuel usage (Simulation time on the server will start at 14:00 o´clock.)
3. we want to test whether ServerManager can implement these ideas
We have not yet been able to test some of the things described above with the ServerManager.
Therefore, the four weeks will help us to find out what we can configure in the future.
4. more Racing
Greg and franglais plan to offer races on weekdays.
After a first week of testing, they would like to give you (the members) the opportunity to suggest cars and tracks in a given Discord channel.
The best combination will then be determined via a member poll and driven on the following Wednesday…
