Published on Leave a comment on F1 1975 at Imola 72 – Race Weekend 1/6

What a start to the new THR Formula 1 World Championship.

The first race with the 1975 F1 cars took place on the historic 1972 Imola circuit.
22 drivers in 9 different cars went to the start.
Maddie Shepherd, Emil Andersson and margar started from the first 3 places.

The first cars got away well at the start, but a big accident occurred in the back field.

After that an exciting race developed.

Throughout the race, groups of cars fought against each other.
Imola is very fast and requires high concentration of the drivers.

As the race progressed, the lapped cars made made mostly a good job in letting the leaders pass.

At the end of lap 36 (about 6 minutes before the end of the race) Maddie Shepherd was in the lead ahead of Emil Anderson, margar17, pitman and Nat Stevenson.

And then the race got crazy.
Nat Stevenson had chased pitman for about 20 laps and closed the gap. Before it could come to a real duel, pitman made a small mistake and came little sidways out of the Rivazza curve. Nat took the chance and overtook pitman.

1 lap later, a car spun in the Aqua Minerale and Maddie had no chance to avoid the car. The accident damaged her car so much that she had to pit.

In addition, Emil also lost his place because his gearbox was broken due to two wrong shifts.

He also had to pit and Margar took the lead and Nat and pitman moved up to positions 2 and 3.

Then on lap 40 Nat made a small mistake, drove a little too fast into Acqua Minerale and spun.
pitman took the chance and got his position back.

2 laps later margar crossed the finish line first, followed 24 seconds later by pitman in 2nd place.
Nat secured 3rd place.

Published on Leave a comment on GPL at Mexico 1967 Race Weekend 11/11 – The GPL Champion is Mac

Yesterday we held the final Race Weekend of our GPL Throwback Championship.

The championship ran alternately lasts from September 2020 until now and we raced on the same 11 different iconic tracks:

  • Kyalami 1967
  • Monaco 1966
  • Zandvoort 1967
  • Spa 1966
  • Rouen 60s
  • Silverstone 1967
  • Nürburgring 1967
  • Mosport
  • Monza 1966
  • Watkins Glen 1967
  • Mexico 1967

57 different drivers took part in the championship.
We had an average of 19 cars on the track and the biggest starting grid was in Monza with 28 vehicles.
19 different drivers managed to finish on the podium and 6 drivers were able to claim a victory.

We streamed every race at Youtube and we have all experienced a lot of great motorsport.

Racing the GPL Mod regularly against very well known drivers was the motivating force behind the foundation of THR.

That's why I'm very happy about the popularity of the GPL Championship.

After the race, we spun the wheel of fortune to determine the winner of the THR championship prize.

Published on Leave a comment on TCL at Mexico 1967 Race Weekend 11/11 – We have found our Champions

On last Sunday we held the final Race Weekend of our 70s TCL Championship.

The championship lasts from September 2020 until now and we raced on 11 different iconic tracks:

  • Kyalami 1967
  • Monaco 1966
  • Zandvoort 1967
  • Spa 1966
  • Rouen 60s
  • Silverstone 1967
  • Nürburgring 1967
  • Mosport
  • Monza 1966
  • Watkins Glen 1967
  • Mexico 1967

60 different drivers participated in the championship.
We had an average of 25 cars on the track and the biggest starting grid was in Mosport with 29 vehicles.
28 different drivers managed to finish on the podium and 10 drivers were able to claim a victory.

We streamed every race at Youtube and we have all experienced a lot of great motorsport.

I want to thank every participant. It was a pleasure to have you all on track !!!

The track in Watkins Glen, which was recreated historically correct by Sergio Loro, is relatively narrow and the high curbs increase the level of difficulty for a race with the GPL cars.

But on Sunday, two exciting races developed.

And Nat Stevenson had a nearly perfect race weekend.
After qualifying P2, he quickly moved to the front of the field and dominated the pace.

Thanks again Sergio for bringing the track back to (AC) life.

Yesterday we had the wonderful opportunity to drive on Sergio Loro's new track "Watkins Glen".

The drivers agreed that the races were really fun and that Sergio has once again built a brilliant track.

Shortly to the Livestream:
For the first time we show a live TrackMap with the individual positions of the drivers, which provides a very good overview of the race action.

We have also engaged Mark (from Windows) as our new commentator.

Unfortunately the camera settings of the track, which is still under development, are not perfect yet. But this will be fixed for the GPL races next week.

Before the race in Mosport [THR] installed a Race Control group, which immediately had a lot of work after the first race weekend.

The members of the Race Control group spent a lot of time evaluating the open incidents and deciding on penalties.

At this point I would like to thank them for the many hours invested!

Hopefully the work of Race Control will help us to have even better races!

Nordschleife in Germany >>> Mosport in Canada

I had to get from Germany to Canada within a week.
Unfortunately, my boss didn't give me enough money to fly over.

Instead, I had to travel by ship.

On the ship I unfortunately had no possibility to telegraph my report, therefore I can publish the Racereport not earlier than today.

In the last week there were some daring drivers who faced the longest and most dangerous race track of this year's championship.

After 80 minutes of qualifying, the spectators saw two phenomenal races.
There were many remarkable duels. For example, a group of 6 drivers fought each other for a full lap.

In the end, serial winner Mac Sheperd won both races and Vesa Tolonen finished twice on the podium.
Also making the podium were Nat Stevenson and Anthony M Petro, who accomplished this in his first race at THR.
